In this guide, I’ll share some of the best tools for bloggers that have helped me streamline my workflow, boost my productivity, and enhance my blog’s performance 🙂

I am a non-native speaker and a licensed veterinarian. My first blog is focused on pet health. So one of my biggest challenges was making sure my writing was clear and error-free. That’s where grammar and style tools come in handy. I use these tools to polish my posts and make them more engaging.
Grammarly
Grammarly is a lifesaver. It helps me catch typos, grammar mistakes, and awkward phrasing. Plus, it suggests better words and phrases to improve readability.
The tone detection feature is also great for making sure my content sounds friendly and approachable.
The free version is amazing, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Quillbot
If you’re looking for something that can do more than just grammar checks, Quillbot is also worth checking out. It offers paraphrasing capabilities, which is helpful when you want to rephrase sentences without losing the original meaning.
Hemingway Editor
For those who want to improve their writing style, Hemingway Editor is a fantastic tool. It highlights complex sentences and suggests simpler alternatives. This helps make your content more accessible and easier to read.
I read that if you write in a way an 8th grader can understand, it makes your content easier for everyone to digest. The Hemingway app will help you with that.

2. Design Tools for Visual Content
Having a website is not just about your writing. It also needs to be visually appealing. Creating eye-catching visuals is key to making your blog stand out. I rely on a few design tools to help me create stunning graphics quickly and easily.
Canva
I love Canva. It is my go-to tool for designing pins, infographics, and social media posts. It’s user-friendly with a drag-and-drop interface that makes design simple.
Canva offers a wide range of templates, so even if you’re not a design expert, you can still create professional-looking graphics. I love how I can customize everything to fit my brand’s style.
And you can do soo much with this tool, from designing your graphics to advanced video editing.
The new AI-powered features are also worth checking out. They are adding more and more features all the time.
You can try it for free, but the paid version is worth every penny.
Adobe Express
If you’re looking for alternatives, Adobe Express is another great option. It has similar features to Canva, including templates and easy-to-use design tools. You also get access to the huge Adobe stock photos library and templates.
The free version gives you 25 credits per month for your designs, but they run out quickly when you’re having fun! 😃
Other good tools for creating beautiful and on-brand designs include PicMonkey and VistaCreate.

3. AI Writing Assistants
AI writing assistants have become game-changers for bloggers. They help generate content ideas, drafts, and even complete posts. I use them to speed up my writing process and keep my creativity flowing.
Just to clarify, I use AI daily for my business, but I don’t just copy and paste everything an AI produces. You need to work with these tools, teach them to sound like you, and edit everything they write.
AI is a tool, and it can make your life so much easier. I read that in the future, you probably won’t be replaced by AI, but you might be replaced by someone who is using AI.
There is a learning curve, but it’s worth it, trust me.
Here are 3 AI assistants I personally tried and use(d):
ChatGPT
This is my favorite AI tool. It helps me come up with new ideas and structures for my posts. When I’m stuck or need a fresh perspective, ChatGPT is my go-to assistant. It helps me work more efficiently and manage my time effectively.
I have the paid version and have spent several hours creating and training specific “Baby-GPTs” to suit my needs.
Custom GPTs are not hard to create, and you can train them to match your tone and style. You can train them on any resource you want. For example, if you have an SEO expert you like, you can instruct the GPTs to model their advice on that expert’s insights.
I have one custom GPT that helps me write Pinterest titles and descriptions, one that generates newsletter ideas for my pet health blog, and one that I use for newsletters for this blog. I even have one that functions as my personal assistant 🙂
Jasper
Another powerful tool is Jasper. It’s excellent for generating high-quality content quickly.
Jasper can write blog posts, social media updates, and even marketing copy. I find it especially useful for its ability to maintain a consistent tone and style.
They offer a free trial if you want to try it out.
Koala Writer
Koala Writer is a great option if you want a tool that focuses on SEO. It helps create content optimized for search engines, ensuring your posts reach a wider audience.
But again, even when you get a great copy from your AI tool, you need to edit it. However, once you find your flow, AI can make your life so much easier.
4. Keyword Research Tools
Keyword research is crucial for SEO and targeting the right audience. With Google’s Helpful Content update last year, SEO has changed dramatically, and more changes are on the horizon, especially with AI-powered search.
To stay in the game, you need to keep up with these trends. I’ve taken several courses, but the one I recommend is “Stupid Simple SEO” by Mike Fuenda. The guy is very good and consistently updates his courses to reflect current events and changing situations. His last update after the HCU is gold.
But here are a few keyword research tools I tried and like:
Keysearch
Keysearch is the tool I currently use, and it’s fantastic for bloggers. It’s easy to navigate and provides valuable insights into keyword difficulty and search volume.
Keysearch helps me find the best keywords to target and optimize my content effectively.
Ubersuggest:
Another user-friendly tool is Ubersuggest. Created by Neil Patel, it offers keyword suggestions, content ideas, and competitive analysis.
I find Ubersuggest particularly useful for its comprehensive yet straightforward reports.
You get 3 free searches per day, which is good if you want to try it out.
Keywords Everywhere
Keywords Everywhere is a paid browser extension that provides keyword data directly on Google search results.
It’s handy for quick keyword research without leaving your browser. I love its convenience and real-time data.
You pay for credits, not monthly. I find it better than the conventional monthly fee, especially when you go on vacation or you want to focus on something else in your business for a while.
RankIQ:
RankIQ is another excellent option, designed to help you find high-traffic, low-competition keywords. It’s great for optimizing content and improving your chances of ranking well on search engines.
It’s different from other keyword research tools, the best way to understand the difference is to watch the introduction video on their homepage ☺️
Surfer SEO
Lastly, Surfer SEO combines keyword research with on-page optimization. It’s similar to RankIQ. It analyzes top-ranking pages and provides guidelines to help your content perform better.
And you can use their AI-writing tool to help you create content faster 🙂
Ahrefs and Semrush
If you are looking for advanced tools, Ahrefs and Semrush are top choices.
Ahrefs excels in backlink analysis and competitive research, making it a powerhouse for serious bloggers.
Semrush offers a suite of tools for SEO, content marketing, and social media.
Both are more complex but provide in-depth insights that can significantly boost your SEO strategy. But you need to learn how to use them effectively, otherwise, you’re just throwing money away as they are quite expensive.
These tools have made keyword research much easier and more effective for me. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced blogger, there’s a tool out there that fits your needs 🙂
5. Site Audit Tools
Regular site audits are crucial to maintaining your blog’s health and improving its SEO. I use several tools to ensure my site is always in top shape. And if your site is small, you will be ok with the free versions 🙂
Ahrefs
Ahrefs Free Site Audit is an excellent starting point. It provides a comprehensive analysis of your website, identifying technical issues that could affect your SEO.
I find it incredibly helpful for spotting problems like broken links, duplicate content, and slow-loading pages. The detailed reports and actionable insights make it easy to understand what needs fixing.

Semrush
Semrush Free Site Audit is another powerful tool I use. It offers a thorough examination of your website’s health, covering aspects like site performance, security, and SEO. The user-friendly interface and in-depth analysis help me quickly identify and resolve issues.

Screaming Frog SEO
For those who want more control, Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a fantastic tool. It crawls your website and provides detailed reports on various SEO factors, such as broken links, metadata, and duplicate content.
Screaming Frog offers both a free version and a paid version with additional features. The free version lets you crawl 500 URLs. It’s a bit more technical, but it’s worth the effort for the insights it provides.
Using these tools, I can regularly check my blog for issues and make necessary improvements.
6. Stock Photo Resources
High-quality images can make a big difference in how your blog looks and feels. I use various stock photo resources to ensure my blog posts are visually appealing and engaging.
Here are some of my favorites:
Free stock photo sites
- Unsplash: Unsplash has a vast library of free photos contributed by talented photographers. The images are great for blog posts, social media, and other projects.
- Pexels: This is my go-to for beautiful, high-resolution images. Pexels offers a wide range of free stock photos and videos. I love how easy it is to search for specific themes or styles. The quality of the images is consistently high, making it a reliable resource.
- Pixabay: Pixabay provides free images, illustrations, and vector graphics. It’s a versatile resource with a large collection of high-quality visuals. I often use Pixabay when I need more unique or creative images.
📌 Note: When you’re downloading a royalty-free image, always check the rules for giving credit to the photographer.
Paid stock photo sites
- Shutterstock: If you’re looking for exclusive images, Shutterstock is a fantastic option. It has an extensive library of premium photos, vectors, and illustrations. While it requires a subscription, the variety and quality of images make it worth the investment.
- Adobe Stock: Adobe Stock offers millions of high-quality images and graphics. It integrates seamlessly with Adobe Creative Cloud apps, which is great if you’re already using tools like Photoshop or Illustrator. The subscription plans provide access to a wide range of professional-grade visuals.
Create your own images with AI
- Midjourney: AI tools like Midjourney allow you to create unique images tailored to your blog’s needs. By inputting specific prompts, you can generate custom visuals that perfectly match your content’s theme and style. It’s an exciting way to produce original images without the need for extensive design skills. But you need to learn how to work with AI to get the picture you want.
- Adobe Firefly: Adobe Firefly is another powerful AI tool that helps create personalized images. It uses advanced algorithms to generate high-quality visuals based on your instructions. This tool can save time and ensure your blog stands out with unique, eye-catching images. I use it a lot and love their approach to training their AI and their philosophy 🥰

7. Tools for Analyzing and Improving Website Speed
Website speed is crucial for user experience and SEO. Slow-loading sites can frustrate visitors and lead to higher bounce rates. Here are some tools I use to analyze and improve my blog’s speed:
Google PageSpeed Insights
Google PageSpeed Insights is my go-to tool for checking my website’s speed. It provides a detailed analysis of your site’s performance on both desktop and mobile devices.
I love how it gives specific recommendations to enhance speed, such as optimizing images or leveraging browser caching.
The tool scores your site and offers actionable tips to improve loading times. And it’s from Google, so you know these are the data Google takes into account when ranking your website.
GTmetrix
GTmetrix is another excellent tool for analyzing website speed. It provides a comprehensive report on your site’s performance, including page load time, total page size, and the number of requests.
GTmetrix also offers suggestions for improvement, making it easy to see which changes will have the most impact. I find the visual reports very helpful for understanding what needs to be optimized.
Lighthouse
Lighthouse is an open-source tool from Google that audits your website’s performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO. You can run it directly in Chrome DevTools, which makes it very convenient.
Lighthouse provides a detailed report with scores and suggestions for improvement. However, it’s a complex tool so you need to spend a few hours on tutorials to learn how to use it properly.
Using these tools has helped me keep my blog running smoothly and efficiently. They provide valuable insights and practical suggestions.

Here are the tools I use to monitor and improve my blog’s performance:

Google Analytics is an essential tool for any blogger. It offers detailed insights into your website traffic, including visitor demographics, behavior, and acquisition channels.
I use Google Analytics to track which posts are most popular, how users navigate my site, and where my traffic is coming from. It helps me make data-driven decisions to improve my content and strategy.
It’s a complex tool and you need to find good tutorials to be able to use it if you are a complete newbie. And you need to install a tracking code on your website to see the data.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is another must-have tool for bloggers and website owners. It helps you monitor and maintain your site’s presence in Google search results.
I use it to check for indexing issues, track search queries, and understand how my content is performing in search results.
Google Search Console also provides insights into mobile usability and site speed, which are crucial for your SEO.
Hotjar
Hotjar offers more than just traditional analytics. It provides heatmaps, session recordings, and feedback polls that help you understand how users interact with your site.
I use Hotjar to gain deeper insights into user behavior and identify areas for improvement. The visual data it provides is invaluable for optimizing user experience.
The free plan with basic functions is actually very good.
Bing Webmaster Tools
Bing Webmaster Tools offers similar functionalities to Google Search Console but for Bing search. It helps you monitor your site’s performance in Bing search results, identify indexing issues, and analyze search query data.
I use Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure my blog performs well across different search engines and to gain additional insights into my audience.
These analytics tools have been essential in helping me understand my audience and improve my blog. They provide the data I need to make informed decisions and optimize my content strategy.
10. Note-Taking and Organization Tools
Staying organized is key to managing a successful blog. Note-taking and organization tools help streamline your workflow, capture ideas, and keep everything in order.

Notion
Notion is my all-in-one workspace for note-taking, project management, and content planning. It’s incredibly flexible, allowing you to create databases, track tasks, and organize your ideas in one place.
I use it for everything – for my personal projects as well as my business. I love it and their AI feature is amazing.
You can use Notion to keep track of your blog post ideas, plan your editorial calendar, and manage ongoing projects. Its customizable templates make it easy to tailor the workspace to fit your needs.
Evernote
Before I switched to Notion, I used Evernote. It’s another excellent tool for capturing and organizing notes. I love their interface and design, it’s a beautiful app. However, as the pricing increased, I switched to Notion as it’s free and has everything I need.
OneNote
I used OneNote when I worked in a corporation. It’s a versatile note-taking tool from Microsoft. It allows you to create notebooks, sections, and pages to organize your notes.
It’s integrated with other Microsoft Office apps, which makes it convenient for those already using the Office suite.
Trello
Trello is a visual project management tool that uses boards, lists, and cards to help you organize tasks and projects. I use it to keep track of tasks for my clients. They can see what’s already done and what I’m working on. Its intuitive interface makes it easy to see what needs to be done and stay on top of deadlines.
I cannot imagine my life without a note-taking app. Once you have a system and implement it in your everyday life, you will be hooked 🙂
